Toshiki Inoue, the series organizer, agreed with Araki and added that, in anime adaptations, there is a lot of importance in highlighting the aspects that are “interesting in the original”. He concluded that Light’s presence was “the most compelling” aspect; therefore the adaptation chronicles Taimi Light’s “thoughts and actions as much as possible”. Inoue noted that to best incorporate the manga’s plot into the anime, he “tweak the chronology a bit” and incorporated flashbacks that appear after the openings of the episodes; he said this revealed the desired tensions.
At the end of the film, L even contemplates writing Light’s name on the Death Note, something the original iteration of the character may not do. Although the two of them were only on-screen together for a fragment of a single episode, there’s no doubt that Naomi and Raye have one of the most solid relationships in the series. They’re arranged to be married in the Spring and were only in Japan because Raye was called to help investigate the Kira incident. Fans are well aware that Raye was killed by Kira while pursuing him, and afterward, Naomi took it upon herself to catch Kira- only to be stopped by him.

After losing the tennis match, in order to prevent Light from meeting with the Task Force members, L announces his suspicions, claiming his suspicions are only one percent high. L begins testing Light at the cafe, first by asking him about why L revealed himself, then about the file that the FBI agents received, and finally about three notes Kira left behind using criminals. Light passes all the tests and doesn’t slip up, and so L doesn’t bother trying to test him anymore.
Yoshino then learns of his friend’s intentions of saving the world when the latter saves him from a girl holding him at gunpoint. Lakeith Stanfield portrays L in the live-action American film adaptation. In this adaptation, he is shown as an enigmatic, skillful and highly esteemed international consulting detective. He communicates with the authorities only through his handler/assistant, “Watari”, and is affiliated with a number of law enforcement agencies such as the FBI, CIA and Interpol. His past also originates from a secluded orphanage, though his real name is given as “Lebensborn Atubia”. Specifically, Yagami realized that the moment he typed the names of people in his notebook, these characters died.
When will Season 2 of Death Note be released?
L has spent most of his life dedicating himself to solving crime cases, and hunting down and apprehending notorious criminals and felons around the world. It is implied that he suffers from loneliness, internal torment and low self-esteem, even calling himself “a monster” at one point. He also possesses an unusually high intellect and uncanny skills in strategy, deduction, observation, reasoning and profiling, which have given him a high reputation amongst law enforcement agencies worldwide. After deducing that the serial-killings are all connected and perpetrated by a single mastermind and are sourced from Japan, L allies himself with the Japanese police force and assists them in investigating the murders. “Death Note” started its life as a popular manga series illustrated by Takeshi Obata and written by Tsugumi Ohba. It focuses on the adventures of Light Yagami, a teenage genius who discovers a mysterious notebook one fateful day.
Light Yagami is widely known as one of the greatest anime villains of all time, and these evil acts of his are enough to justify this claim. Once I learned to time the opening for bathroom and snack breaks, I found that strength to push through the Yotsuba arc. Ryuk gives the Death Note to Kyosuke Higuchi, a corrupt businessman who uses the Death Note to continue the work of Kira.
Initially terrified of its god-like power, Light considers the possibilities of the Death Note’s abilities and kills high-profile Japanese criminals, then targets international criminals. Five days after discovering the notebook, Light is visited by Ryuk, a “shinigami” and the Death Note’s previous owner. Ryuk, invisible to anyone who has not touched the notebook, reveals that he dropped the notebook into the human world out of boredom and is amused by Light’s actions. Tom S. Pepirium of IGN describes L as “the coolest, most well developed character in anime today”. Pepirium said that the “excellent translation” is responsible for L being a “success” in the English-language dub of Death Note. Anime News Network found that the mental duels between L and Light are appealing to viewers of the series due to how each attempts to discover the identity of the other while at the same time wanting to hide their own.
Nearing the last episode of the series, Light gets ready for his final showdown with Near. Using his impressive insight and resourcefulness, he creates a situation where Near and his team have close to zero chances of survival. At the moment of truth, the deaths of Light’s enemies do not come, revealing he had been bested by the efforts of Near and Mello. In an attempt to recover the death note conceded to Mello’s group, the task force organized a raid on the mafias hideout. They were prompted to act by Kira, as it was Light’s plan to retrieve the death note while taking care of Mello simultaneously.

I don’t think we should think which of those two won, I think it’s who won. Many people might not like my theory, but I think both of them won and lost in a way. He completed the first part of finding Kira, because he knew that Light was Kira, just couldn’t prove it to others. So he got his wish, when Light died, but didn’t do it, because L died before he was able to. By “winning”, I mean that L defeated Light in their mind game/battle.
In one of the responses, the second Kira mentions “Shinigami,” and since their existence isn’t implausible to L considering previous events, L is shocked and unsettled by the idea of him potentially needing to change his worldview. After the second Kira sends a diary, Light goes to Aoyama on May 22nd under the guise of investigating, only for him to find nothing. On May 23rd, the second Kira releases a tape announcing that she has found Kira, which has L suspect Light further considering this is probably referring to when Light went to Aoyama the previous day, so L has Mogi secretly tail Light.
